Vivienne Westwood for Melissa shoes

Brazil's world-famous jelly sandal company Melissa convinced Vivienne Westwood, the grande dame of alterna style to collaborate with them, the reuslt being this colorful confection of Mary Janes. Unveiled at Sao Paulo fashion week (which kicked off January 20), they don't look half as scary as some of Westwood's high-rise creations for Louise Vuitton and the such.
Melissa is owned by Grendene, the world's largest sandal manufacturer, based in southern Brazil. Grendene has created sandals for Thierry Mugler and Jean Paul Gaultier. Recent  Melissa collaborations include a collection with Alexandre Herchcovitch (who just showed at Sao Paulo Fashion Week) and Brazilian fashion designer Marcelo Sommer. (And in case you were wondering, Melissa Shoes are completely recyclable.)
