Clutch or Crutch?

The new oversized clutches from Prada, Miu Miu and Nancy Gonzalez confound us. Carrying a clutch can be a major nuisance to begin with, as it needs as much physical attention as a newborn. Not to mention the fact that it's impossible to hold said clutch, tipple Champagne, and sample hors d'oeuvres all at once. Now, this big clutch--think about the same size as an airplane tray--seems downright crippling. We all know that women will overstuff an oversized clutch--hmm, maybe it wouldn't hurt to bring all five lipglosses--and isn't the point of a clutch to force us to be more spartan? Our final word: Big clutches will cause us to drink Champagne on an empty stomach--no free hand for canape consumption--and drop gargantuan clutch on foot. Ouch.

It depends on the purpose you are looking for it to serve. It is a definite yay for people like me who absolutely must bring all 5 lip glosses whether small or large. Small overstuffed clutches are much more distracting than large airplane trays under your arm. When it comes down to it though its not such a good idea if you are going to a black tie event. That is when you must chose 1 gloss and stick with it and opt for the small clutch. Just because I feel as though the large clutch has a much more casual feel to it.

couldn't have said it better myself. from the first moment i heard of such an inane concept, i was averse to the trend. thank you for bringing the pure absurdity of this style out in such a succint -- and spot-on -- manner (and in such a well-read forum, too).
