Model Citizen
Although the majority of America’s Next Top Model contestants would be voted "Most Likely to Benefit From Psychiatric Care," the pretty posers generally hope to skip Belview and head straight for Hollywood. Models have a long history of trying to break into film, often with catastrophic results. Still, some ex-supermodels are going different routes: Paulina Porizkova just published her first novel A Model Summer, all about—you guessed it—a young model. But at least she’s trying to write what she knows. Meanwhile Gail Elliot’s clothing line Little Joe is flourishing, thanks to her knowledge of fashion from years in the industry. Her most recent successes include sweet spring slip sundresses and another store opening in Australia. Sounds like a model summer for Gail Elliot too. Book: $23.95, Dresses: $265-$365, net-a-porter.com
