Whittling Away in Venice

Take a class in woodcarving from a master at Tortoise in VeniceIf you haven’t yet come upon Tortoise in Venice—a find of a store, filled with Japanese finery like Masahiro Mori ceramics, bent wood bowls, and sculptural puzzles and office supplies—Saturday, March 19 brings a unique hands-on opportunity as an introduction. From 2 p.m.-4:30 p.m., master woodcarver Yo Takimoto will hold a carving class at the shop for 10 participants. This is the last in a series of classes Takimoto has held and likely won’t return for a while, so call or email soon. RSVP to 310-314-8448 or info@tortoiselife.com; $20, tortoiselife.com
