Connect the Dots

Three Dots’ new fall line.Things change. We all know that’s true. But that doesn’t make us good at accepting the fact. We have to believe that our childhood friends are still kindred, that the movie biz isn’t only about marketing, that our exes still think of us. Not all transitions have to be painful though. California t-shirt company Three Dots showed big changes last season when they opened their flagship Melrose store and introduced the first line helmed by new creative director Yuchin Mao, formerly of Helmut Lang. Mao brought a whole new level of sophistication and ingenuity to the brand, and she’s done it again with the newly released Fall ’06 line. Herringbone jersey military jackets and skirts, gauze rib/eyelet mesh layers, asymmetrical lycra tops with twists, and flannel cashmere sweaters make Three Dots’ new collection feel more complete than ever before.  Sometimes, you see, change is a good thing. $38-$325, 8117 Melrose Ave., (323) 782-0139
