Art and Commerce
Local art institutions in L.A. are in perpetual need of funding.Unfortunately, most of us aren’t in positions to donate buildings or wings. Still, on May 22 from 6:30 p.m.to 8:30 p.m., we can support the arts at MOCA on Melrose Place. As further proof that contemporary fashion is a close relative of contemporary art (sort of like that crazy, cool aunt), shops like Bird, Carolina Herrera, Colette, Diane von Furstenberg, Dolce Vita, Joann Smyth Jewelry, John Frieda Salon, Lambertson Truex, Marc Jacobs, Marni, Me&Ro, Mulberry (bag pictured), Oscar de la Renta, and Temperley London will stay open late and donate 10% of this evening’s sales (and sales for the next three days — if patrons mention the MOca connection) to the museum.Shoppers will enjoy champagne, hors d’oeuvres and, best of all, complimentary valet. 10% of sales to MOCA, RSVP: projectscouncil@moca.org
