3 is the Magic Number
L.A. is a city of transplants—no newsflash there. Hollywood hopefuls—especially from the other coast—head west to pursue their silver screen dreams. Then once they get here, they complain incessantly about how much they miss New York. Even the smelly subway and neighborhood homeless guys are glorified. Well those industry folks who are tied to SoCal for work only may want to check out 3 on Fourth. This newbie Westside best-kept-secret gem has a small, dark New York vibe. Now on Tuesday nights the chef is offering special wine and cheese pairings, which might be stuffy elsewhere but here is the perfect casual treat for a couple of friends on a weekday night NYC-style. Killer combinations inlcude Brie de Meaux with apple, honey emulsification, toasted walnut, and pomegranate glaze with a glass or two of Shug Chardonnay 2005 or Brillat-Savarin with mache, strawberry, and aged balsamic vinegar and a glass or two of Santi Solane Ripasso 2003. So it’s the perfect place for L.A. lovers and dissenters alike, unless New York devotees find the fresh produce and ocean air too much of a bother. $28-$42, 3 on Fourth, 1432A 4th St., (310) 395-6765
