Win Nars & MAC

Win Nars and MAC Make-Up!Blog. To me, the word most resembles the sound someone makes to indicate that she desperately needs the Heimlich maneuver. It also reminds me of elderly European men on street corners, who emit guttural explosions ("Blech!" "Blugh!" "Blog!") to pass the long afternoons. Still, I rather like it since it well represents the way we spit out info. Apparently, the word affronts Anna Wintour enough that she has appealed to her Vogue staff to come up with a chicer mot—as was reported by Page Six. Perhaps the winner at Vogue will receive a free pass to eat a Kit-Kat without being fired. Want to weigh in? Visit TheStylephile.com and post your best idea for a substitute word for blog in the comments section beneath this post. The winner will receive a gift bag filled with make-up (MAC, Nars) and other great goodies hand-picked from my beauty closet. — Monica Corcoran

Posted by Awlrain? You win. | Apr 24 2007 6:25PM

Wait. Let me comment on a few of my faves first: 1. Ment - Rae. So simple. 2. Opinet - Jperez. The combo of opine and net is as sound as bacon and eggs. 3. Elegraph - Rifka. Sounds like elephant and elegant, which equals bigtime chic. BUT THE PRIZE GOES TO: Commentini - awlrain. Why? a) I drink b) a lot c) a couple of stiff martinis will induce a Blog-out-you have no recollection of posting anything! Thank you all and keep checking out TheStylphile.com. On Thursday, I will be giving away a new pair of Kasil skinny jeans to the best post. Thanks, M. If you have any comments or suggestions, e-mail me at: Monica_Corcoran@variety.com

e-say is sort of a play on essay and electronic opinion. since Wintours issue is the horrible sound of it, and that she doesn't think her writing amounts to a blog you could also translate e-say into french and call it e-dit... which is a play on the electronic thing again, the word edit and if you like you can think yot at the end for Wintour's tirade against a shortened word.

Posted by kelly oxford | Apr 24 2007 3:23PM

blog is short for weblog. they may as well call it "bandwagon" since they are so slow to catch on to "blogging" it's been around for 6 years+!!
