Save the date: Bill Miller's linoleum art
One man's kitchen floor can, in some cases, be another man's inspiration. Just take a look at the art of Bill Miller, who makes collage paintings from discarded linoleum and reclaimed vinyl flooring, creating stained glass-style pieces that are fun to look at and easy to mop. A founding member of Pittsburgh’s Industrial Arts Co-op, Miller started out working with recycled materials, making large-scale sculptures made of scrap materials found in abandoned industrial sites. He fell in love with vintage linoleum 12 years ago and has been working in it ever since. Imagine what he could do with your mother's 1970s shag carpet tiles?
An exhibition of Miller's art opens Saturday April 26 at Frank Pictures Gallery, Bergamot Station, Santa Monica. Visit www.frankpicturesgallery.com for more information.
