GO GREEN: To a T

T on Fairfax offers only organicsThe Farmer’s Market is a fascinating place. The eclectic space hosts people, foods, sweets and even hot sauces of all shapes and sizes. The problem arises when all these hungry people from all walks of life descend upon the market at once. Can you say crowded? The only thing crazier is The Grove’s theater on Friday night—you’re lucky to escape that place alive. Fortunately for your mellower moods, there’s a new chill spot in the area: T on Fairfax. The sweet tea shop prides itself on serving the best cup of tea around, using only organic varieties, custom filtered water steeped at specific temperatures for each type, and special tea pots that help prevent over steeping. Teas like Masala Chai and Yerba Mate are run through the espresso machine as coffee alternatives, while standard water and tea concoctions include exotic options like Yunnan Golden Buds, Earl Gray Cream and even Iron Goddess of Mercy. The tea menu reads like a wine list with flavor descriptions and cues. Sandwiches range from a White Bean, Avocado and Roasted Tomato number to Manchego, Arugula and Fig or even a Tofurky Club and also employ only organic ingredients and freshly baked bread. Sounds like our cup of T. $1.75 and up, T of Fairfax, 435 N. Fairfax Ave., (323) 782-0695
