Here Comes the Lanvin

LanvinWhat's black and white and red all over? A wedding dress, after one guest burns the bride with a cigar and another spills Pinot Noir down her back. (Yes, we witnessed the incident. No, we were not responsible.)
Nevertheless, women will continue to spend untold thousands on a dress that is worn for about six hours. WWD reports that Alber Elbaz--he of Lanvin fame--could announce that he will be designing a bridal line. What does that mean for women wearing a carbon chip? Hmm. Figure on spending at least $5,000, I predict, and perhaps expect it to resemble the dress that he designed exclusively for Demi Moore's nuptials to Ashton Kutcher (see below).
The floor length silk sheath, emblazoned with jewels, will work for lithe ladies. But The Stylephile hopes that if Lanvin debuts a line of bridal wear, it will include modern suits (even pantsuits), and those signature ladylike cuts cinched at the waist that convey femininity and sophistication.
FYI: The average wedding dress costs $1,000 and the cost of a wedding has more than doubled since 1990, to $28,000, according to the Conde Nast Bridal Group. The Stylephile urges brides to "eat" at their wedding. It's the most expensive meal of your life, sister. Dig in!
