Riding the Freewaves
With Election Day fast approaching, you should be reading up on candidates, issues and “facts.” Instead, you’re sitting on your couch mindlessly flipping through the voter’s guide and counting the propositions again and again and again. “Really? There are actually that many?” Well you might as well fixate on something more intellectually and visually stimulating. Head over to Freewaves’ 10th Biennial Film, Video and New Media Experimental Art event “Too Much Freedom?” Moving work (both literally and figuratively) chosen by international curators and created by 100 artists will blink, parody, question, politicize and hypnotize in the Hammer Museum’s central courtyard on Friday and Saturday night from 7p.m. to 11p.m. So you can entertain ideas on a higher plane and then tackle those tricky propositions with sharpened wit. Because, yes, there really are that many. Free, The Hammer Museum, 10899 Wilshire Blvd., (310) 443-7000, For information on later events: freewaves.org
