Lone Wolf
These days Australia conjures certain images: kangaroos and BBQ shrimp, Foster’s beer commercials, hot and bleached blonde surfers. When it comes to life down under, our knowledge remains a bit sub-par. Actually the country is producing incredibly cutting-edge Aussie fashion and beauty lines, not the least of which is Lone Barron Free. Created by mates (sorry, couldn’t help it) Erin Rendic and Angie Scanlon, the women’s denim line is inspired by casual coastal living. Having discovered some of Scanlon’s grandparents’ relics at her family farm, she and native Californian Rendic were moved to emphasize the vintage element of their line. Unusual cuts that recall perfectly worn in old-school jeans like the Prowler, Tom Cat, Alloy and Stinger boast vintage fabric covered buttons and waistband trim and are packaged in distressed antique-style tins with rag doll swing tags and photos from past eras, lending the pieces a personalized feel. $299-$325, ytba.com and Hillary Rush, 8222 W. 3rd St., (323) 852-0088
