Cocktails and Dom

minique Cohen launches her flasgship store on RobertsonWhen a store opens on Robertson and it’s not a Kitson, does it exist?  Absolutely, if Dominique Cohen’s new flagship boutique is any indicator. At the shop's opening cocktail fête Thursday evening, Hollywood heavies like Billy Crystal and Mike Binder (writer/director/actor Reign Over Me) mingled, perused jewelry and noshed on sushi. Guests sipped champagne from straws (an 80’s trend resurging) and POM tea-infused martinis (a buzz with health benefits?)  Inside the shop, revelers ogled elaborate yellow and rose gold chains that beg to be layered, delicate Cleopatra-chic bangles and rings and exotic cutout cuffs, much beloved by fans like Michelle Pfeifer, Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz, Rachael Ray and Oprah Winfrey. In the spirit of many hot designers today, Cohen is attacking the accessories market from many sides, launching a new leather collection as well. Instead of diluting her line with that endeavor, the buttery bags add another level of luxe. The designer is also opening a Madison Avenue store in fall, but perhaps the greatest sign of Cohen’s success is her next project: designing a line for Target. Forget high-end fashion houses. Designing for disposable clothing lines (i.e. Target, Forever 21 and H & M) is today’s Holy Grail. $900-$3,200, Dominique Cohen, 501 N. Robertson Blvd., (310) 859-7206
