It's alive! The Ann Demeulemeester shop in Seoul
Another reason to love the vertical gardening movement--the new Ann Demeulemeester shop in the Gangham district of Seoul, whose facade is entirely covered in living, breathing green matter. Even one of the indoor stairways is entirely lined with moss. The building is so spectacular, we wonder whether it overshadows the clothes that are on sale inside. The space, a "synthetic organism", took four months to design , and another six to constrcut. Seoul architecture firm Mass Studies headed up the project, led by Minsuk Cho (whose ‘Heyri Dalki Theme Park’ was exhibited at the 2004 Venice Biennale).
Not sure what kind of upkeep the living garden will require, but let's pray for plenty of rain in 2008.

Beautiful fashion show by Anne Demeulemeester. We went there with my closed friend Caroline-Christa Bernard. Kirsten, Anvers (Belgium).

Do they have to water the building a couple of times a week? It looks great!Posted by Sara Beth | Jan 4 2008 3:04PM
