Reader poll--is Marc Jacobs out of his mind?

Maybe there's something about being born with the initials "MJ" that makes a person more inclined to bonkers behavior?

Case in point: Marc Jacobs and his camel toe costume. This is what he wore to his own holiday party. Can you imagine if your boss was a camel toe for Christmas? Apparently, while the rest of us were sweating over finding something stylish to wear for holiday cocktail parties, the king of style himself was secretly turning himself into a dromedary's foot, so he could remind us of things we should avoid in 2008. How ironic! (As was signing Victoria Beckham to star in his ad campaign).

But someone should tell Marc that, um, irony died. Like last year. If he were really on-trend, he would have simply worn tight black pants two sizes two small and created the first male camel toe, worn with earnest pride and not a shred of self-consciouness.

Nonetheless, I'm excited that Marc Jacobs is proving himself more and more sandwiches short of a picnic. Fashion needs a great, talented, eccentric with silly hair to shake things up. Vivienne Westwood can't do it all by herself, you know...

I have to say I think this is brilliant. I remember the first time a friend told me what a "camel toe" is. It's one of those things you just don't forget. (And it is so important, what with the legging craze coming back into style. Ladies need to know WHY we wear a tunic that covers the crotch if we choose to wear leggings).

I don't get it.

He needs to get over himself. Just way too tiresome at this point.

i think marc jacobs has allowed his narcissim to run wild. he thinks he can get away with anything. i think dressing up as a camel toe is something he will regret in the future.
