Velvet Goldmine
Cynics may believe that St. Patty’s Day is all about getting drunk, but in fact it’s about something more: the color green. This year pinch a five-inch or nine-inch Green Velvet Cake with cream cheese frosting from sweet little Butter Cake bakery in honor of the holiday. Owner Logan Levant and mother Alison make baking a family affair, also serving up green treats like Shamrock Cookies and rich Green Sprinkled Cupcakes (in regular and "dieters" mini-size). Celebrity fans include Mischa Barton, Molly Sims, Nikki Hilton, Hillary Duff and Benji and Joel Madden--a skinny bunch who likely pick their sweets carefully.
