Sandra Backlund, the Vidal Sassoon of knitwear

The Vidal Sassoon of knitwear designers, Sandra Backlund takes a sculptural approach to wool, injecting poetry into the humble sweater. The Swedish designer, who is self-taught, creates architectural, haute couture pieces that make the craft revival seem anything but "cute". This winter we recommend you throw out all your fur coats, and throw on one of Backlund's enormous sweaters instead.
