Another Vodka Shot?
Personally, I love sake and soju. When I’m in the right mood, an Asian Pear Soju Martini from Red Pearl Kitchen totally floats my boat. But nothing beats a classic dirty martini. Luckily, ultra-premium vodka is back. For serious fans, high-end Russian spirit Imperia prides itself on purity and authenticity. Newly on the LA scene, the liquor (a sponsor at the last NY Fashion Week and recently featured on The Sopranos) is already on the bar menu everywhere from Les Deux to Tropicana to Moonshadows. The Beverly Wilshire is even offering a cocktail called "Vodka is Russian" with Imperia and a spoonful of Petrossian Caviar. Of course, the creators of Hawaiian spirit Ocean Vodka would disagree with that drink's name. Made in Maui with MaHaLo Hawaii Deep Sea Water from the Pacific Ocean and organic spirits, Ocean Vodka may suit a beachier breed. Cocktail recipes on the website call for traditional tropical mixers like mango and orange juice, almost like rum drinks.
