All That Jazz
The average gringo frat boy may use Cinco de Mayo as an excuse to down vats of tequila (with salt, please!), but we enlightened types know better: Cinco de Mayo is about enjoying every facet of Latin Culture (oh, and Mexican victory over the French at the Battle Of Puebla—but you knew that, right?) At the new location of legendary blues venue Harvelle’s in Redondo Beach this Saturday at 9:30 p.m., Grammy Award winning bandleader Poncho Sanchez will dazzle the audience with a fusion of Latin jazz and afro-Cuban rhythms. Officially, the new Harvelle’s doesn’t open until June 20.
