Dear John
Further proof that fashion doesn't just make a difference in hemlines: This past Sunday, designer John Varvatos closed down the street outside his Melrose Heights store and teamed up with Converse to throw his 5th Annual Stuart House Benefit to raise money for the rape crisis center program for children at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center. Macy Gray stole the show when she performed live in a chic Varvatos suit and the event managed to raise over $400,000. While stars like Angie Harmon and Justin Chambers read stories to kids or feasted on Wolfgang Puck pizza, others shopped the John Varvatos Flagship Boutique, where 25% of proceeds went to charity. John Varvatos, 8800 Melrose Ave., (310) 859-2970, To Donate: 911rape.org, Marybeth Roden (310) 319-4503
