Suites for the Sweet

Cinema Suites is a kitschy B & B on FairfaxL.A. is a city of bi-coastal beings. Especially during pilot season, transplanted actors often find themselves stuffed into bland corporate housing at one of the Oakwoods—no wonder New Yorkers hate L.A. New B & B Cinema Suites is an alternative to cookie cutter living, charging even lower prices and offering a more central Fairfax location. Still, Cinema Suites is not for everyone. The appointments are not at all fancy, but Cinema Suites does have a casual vibe and a modest garden that was revamped on HGTV. There’s a kitschy, eccentric feel to this house, which was once home to Greta Garbo, Gloria Swanson, Joan Crawford and Carole Lombard’s furrier. In fact, the space has previously been rented for a Murder Mystery party, which is truly the house's most ideal purpose. Now what could be more Hollywood than that? $100-$125 a night, Cinema Suites, 925 S. Fairfax Blvd., (310) 490-9913

To whom it may concern: I have to say our stay at Cinema Suites this past weekend was extremely disappointing. Though centrally located and with huge potential to be a positive experience the following is a partial list of items myself, as well as other guests I spoke with, found unacceptable: Bed sheets were stained and ripped Shower had mold and the water flow was ridiculously shooting out No curtain on the bathroom window Bar soap is not hygienic for multiple guests No trash can in the room Breakfast food in the kitchen was moldy (muffin on the counter) Unsanitary open ice cream container with silverware inside of freezer Laundry and immense clutter in plain view Inhospitable hostess didn't even look at us when responding to a question In short, this made for less than a pleasant stay and we would have left had it not been nearly impossible to find last minute accommodations.
