Zombies "Rise" at Sixspace

Catch Chad Robertson's zombie-inspired art at SixspaceGet creeped out by Chad Robertson's ethereal paintings at Sixspace in Culver City Saturday, May 27 (6p.m.-9p.m.) at the opening reception for the artist's "Rise" exhibit. A collection of works-on-paper ($1,500-$2,500) and oil-on-canvas pieces ($3,800-$6,300), Robertson was inspired by horror guru George A. Romero ("Night of the Living Dead," "Dawn of the Dead") and the zombie movie genre. Though his subjects may be mindless, Robertson's work is not, exploring the socio-political issues that culminates in these return-from-the-dead films. Exhibit continues through June 24. sixspace.com
