Scanty nightwear giveaway!
The Free Love, Peace and Patchouli lifestyle usually involves a certain degree of Nakedness. But after a three-day, clothing-optional peyote trip in the desert, you might actually enjoy putting on some attire—such as Scanty's free-flowing, Sixties-nostalgic line of sleepwear and lingerie. Bold flower-power prints evoke the spirit of Haight-Ashbury, before it became a tourist destination. And Scanty's soft cottons are so lightweight, you could close your eyes and pretend to be naked, rolling in the mud with thousands of beautiful freaks, tuning in, dropping out and surfing the vibrations while Janis sings "Piece of My Heart". (Let's forget you're actually sitting in bed painting your toenails and watching "CSI".)Scanty is available at Neiman Marcus and other outlets.
Scanty is offering to gift this pretty babydoll nightdress (worth $70) to a Stylephile reader. To win, answer this: which counterculture icon of the 1960s do you admire most, and why? Deadline is Monday April 14th at 5PM. (Don't forget to leave your email address in the comment!)

In novels such as "Slaughterhouse-Five," "Breakfast of Champions" and "Cat's Cradle," Vonnegut became a leading anti-war voice of 1960s and 70s and an icon of the counterculture: darkly funny, morally outraged, implacably opposed to authority and the status quo. kuda1976@mail.ru

WHAT art meant, not was. Sorry.Posted by sky | Apr 14 2008 4:10AM
Andy Warhol because he redefined was art meant and nowadays everyone wants to have a painting like Marilyn Monroe. fotomoto2@hotmail.comPosted by sky | Apr 14 2008 4:09AM
mick jagger. what an influence to not only music but fashion as well. wow! jjackson1515@hotmail.comPosted by jo | Apr 13 2008 4:05PM
The Greatful Dead, not only united people thru their music but greatly impacted the art scene as well. Who can forget the dancing bears and now infamous skull icons. thinknap@gmail.comPosted by sunchicka | Apr 9 2008 4:00PM
well she wasn't famous but...my rather conservative office has this lovely demure secretary. very classic. we had a little game for the holiday party where we had to match eachothers baby photo with a highschool photo. that was when i realized that our darling secretary was a fox in the 60s. the mini-dress. the amazing hair. she is my favorite 60s icon. dwbrosnihan@gmail.comPosted by deirdre wynne | Apr 8 2008 8:29PM
It''s not a specific person, but I gotta thank the women of the Feminist movement for bra burning and insisting on better pay, the right to work outside the home, demanding real birth control options and generally paving the way for my generation. Thanks 60''s ladies!Posted by wileyskye@yahoo.com | Apr 8 2008 7:02PM
I think I have to go with Mia Farrow. She could have just gone along and been another 60''s soap star, married Sinatra and been done with it. Instead, she ditched Peyton Place, starred in Rosemary''s Baby and sealed her legacy in a controversial new style of film-making. Plus, how cute was she in that movie!? She worked the pixie haircut much better than Twiggy. Also her current work as an activist and performances in Woody Allen''s films in the 80''s inspires eternal respect. danaderuyck@yahoo.comPosted by Dana | Apr 8 2008 11:25AM
i guess i'd have to say The Beatles, they just made me feel like being 'free'- going for the moment, and having fun, no matter what anyone else thought... i used to listen to their album on my tiny funky record player- and sing along- it kind of gave me hope, in a strange way. nikkiriverhilton@hotmail.comPosted by nikki | Apr 8 2008 11:06AM
Timothy Leary - I wasn't necessarily into the trippiness of his 'philosophy,' but once he asked me to dance at a Christmas party - in the 90's - he was quite a gent after all! shollihan@yahoo.comPosted by Godric | Apr 8 2008 10:31AM
