Ice ice baby

What, exactly, is the point of jewelry made of ice? I'm really not sure, especially when you bear in mind how cold an ice cube necklace probably feels against the skin. And then there's the dripping, the rivulets created by what was once a beautiful pair of earrings. But, in defense of the concept, they do look ethereally beautiful. And we're sure there's some kind of very clever artistic commentary going on here.
These pieces are made by Katharina Ludwig, who has created an entire line of ice jewelry, including earrings with tiny cups to catch droplets of water. Imagine—each time you wear one of these pieces, you get to home and recreate it in the freezer all over again. Death and rebirth, all in the name of accessories. And if you're in a playful mood, add fruit juice and turn your ice necklace into a popsicle.

Is this not the strangest thing? I love the "essence of the water" part...yup, it's ice and yup, it melts. Do we have to wear it? I prefer mine in my drinks.
