Still Moving On Up
In college you screened the classics. In Film 101, you watched Casablanca, North by Northwest, Rear Window and Citizen Kane. At the dorm you saw Revenge of the Nerds 54 times. Well you may thus consider yourself an expert, but there is way more to see at Still Moving: The Film and Media Collections of the Museum of Modern Art. The show, which traveled from New York and opened in L.A. with a party in at the Gallery at Hermès this past Friday, displays images from great filmmakers like Woody Allen, Matthew Barney, Luis Buñuel, Frank Capra, John Cassavetes, Charles Chaplin, Francis Ford Coppola, Maya Deren, Cecil B. De Mille, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Federico Fellini, Jean-Luc Godard, Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese, and Andy Warhol, which will be juxtaposed with original Edison films.
