GO GREEN: Spring Eternal

Deborah Lindquist’s Spring 2007 lineThere was a time when our options for enjoying a perfect spring day seemed bleak. We could continue to ignore environmental concerns, which sort of ruins the chances of future picnics and frolicking in fields, or we could limit ourselves to wearing hemp potato sacks and eating them too. Not much of a picnic. Now thankfully fashion-friendly designers like Deborah Lindquist are taking an interest in eco concerns, creating lightweight and pretty garments from organic and eco-sensitive materials—nothing like the thick and shapeless potato sacks of our past. For Spring 2007 Lindquist has designed feminine shorts, tops and frocks out of sustainable materials like hemp, organic cotton and organic wool, as well as employing recycled cashmere and repurposed kimonos, saris and vintage silk scarves. Past followers like Jessica Simpson, Gwen Stefani and Charlize Theron are sure to show interest again in one-of-a-kind custom standouts like a hot pink skull and crossbones cardigan and a cream-colored dress with green ribbon halter straps-ideal for a perfect spring day or just a normal afternoon in La La Land. $200-$1,000, deborahlindquist.com
