Titipon Chitsantisook: When designers look like their dresses...

Promising young Thai designer Titipon Chitsantisook won the grand prize at Tokyo's Onward New Designer Fashion Grand Prix with a collection of dresses that seemed to strangely resemble the designer himself.Look at this swirling inky black sequined cocktail dress from the winning collection—it seems to curve and flow like the tentacles of a giant deep sea squid...much like Chitsantisook's blurry, mysterious self-portrait. Uncanny.
Born in Thailand, and now based in Paris, Chitsantisook says his work is based upon his observation that "the manner in which we dress no longer necessarily reflects our belonging to a social rank, an ethnic group, a profession or sexual identity. This state of ‘liberating confusion’ is an important source of inspiration."
Chitsantisook had already shown the collection (named after one of our favorite kids' films, "Neverending Story") at the prestigious Hyères festival in April.
The collection will be shown again in Belgium on October 23rd. Visit his blog here.
