Burn, Baby! Burn!

LA Burning Man ActivitiesFor those who haven’t crashed in the desert with nothing but an elaborate tent or R.V. surrounded by art installations, Burning Man is still a mystery. As much as the devotees proselytize, outsiders find it hard to commit to so much time without an oasis (or Barneys) in sight. Now Angelenos can take the festival experience for a trial run, thanks to the annual L.A. Burning Man festivities. Tonight, during the LA Gallery Row Art Walk from noon to 9 p.m., feed your curiosity at one-night-only photography exhibition Burning Man – Awakening Inspiration. Barbara Traub will be signing her new book Desert to Dreams, which chronicles a decade at the event. Then this Saturday, from noon until midnight, party with 5,000 costumed revelers and witness countless art installations at LA DeCom 2006 (like decompression – get it?). credit: Gamelan X (www.onepeople.com) Photo by PixieVisionProductions.com. Awakening Inspiration: Continental Building Gallery, 122 W. 4th St., LA DeCom 2006: $10 with costume/$20 without, Entrance at Little Pedro’s, 901 E. 1st St., (831) 601-6650
