Style predictions, 2008

Some people say "2008", I say "2000-great"!

1. The high-heeled Oxford shoe will die and be resurrected in its open-toe incarnation, as per Vogue's prediction.
2. Andre Leon Talley will announce his last-minute candidacy for President of the United States. Use of sexist terms like man-bag, manny, metrosexual, meriod etc will be banned
3. Election year will herald the emergence of "Hillary chic", meaning cream blazers, rope pearls, high-waisted pantsuits and highly-volumized power bob. Check out Style.com's interesting attempt to restyle her here.
4. Heavy Chan Marshall/Cat Power (pictured) bangs will soften and be swept to the side. Fingerless white gloves and Peace sign t-shirts will make a comeback.
5. The skinny jean will remain en vogue. Even us big-bottomed girls have figured out how to wear them with panache.
6. More eco designers will emerge on the green fashion scene, raising the bar with fabrics made from candy floss, dead fish and rotting vegetables.
7. Lipstick will make a comeback, forcing lip gloss back into 80s submission.
8. "Shoulder pad" will *really* stop being a four letter word.
9. Nineties-style casualization will continue. Plaids, flannels, Doctor Marten boots, and biker boots teamed with floaty, feminine dresses. No need to dust off your "Blossom" hat or "Erin Brockovich" Wonderbra though, thankfully.
10. L.A. will continue to pretend it is turning into New York, even while the bottom falls out of the property market. New York will continue pretending it is New York, as Brooklyn loses out to Philly and Baltimore as the newest East Coast hipster havens.
