A Re-Moat Location
Dissenters complain about L.A.’s polluted landscape: the flashy billboards, towering palm trees and mismatched architecture. In fact, L.A. is a blank canvas, happily manipulated to suit any aesthetic. Exhibit A is couturier Lloyd Klein’s new digs in the landmark Castle Building with gothic turret and moat, a building one might expect to see in a remote town in Europe. Thus the high-end designer, who has catered to everyone from Halle Berry to Christina Aguilera, has brought a bit of old world class to this new money city. The French-style couture flagship laboratory offers ready-to-wear and couture options from Klein’s 2007 collection, launched at the opening party on November 14.
