Get the Paper

Paper Magazine throws a week long celebration of L.A.Yeah, yeah, we’ve heard it all before: L.A. is so spread out that it’s not a real city. That's true--if you completely misunderstand this town. Real Angelenos know that each neighborhood in sunny lala has it’s own identity and community and is often literally and figuratively a city unto itself. Well, it seems like the folks at Paper Magazine understand that, having planned a week long set of art openings and parties showcasing local talent in different neighborhoods each day. The series begins on Tuesday in Venice, continues to Bergamot station galleries and then finishes at a beach party in Malibu. Wednesday they’ll host a "dimsum art bash" in Chinatown and then head to Echo Park for a Latin-themed block party. On Thursday outrageous hair will be created and captured at Rudy’s Barber Shop. Finally on Friday and through the weekend the magazine will host a series of events including a Saturday fashion show at the new Paper Store HQ in Hollywood and a fashion designer talent search on Sunday. Because visitors are right: L.A. is not a city. It’s ten of them at least. Free, For event and RSVP information: papermag.com
