GO GREEN: Stretch of La La Land

TRYOGA eco-chic yoga studio opens in JanuaryI think we can all admit that yogic practice has strayed from its original intent. See, the downhill slide started with Power Yoga, which prioritized cardio over inner peace. Since then the likes of hip-hop and rock yoga have livened things up, but subtracted a bit from the pursuit of a calm and centered mind. Well, Ironman athletes Bernard and Gina Baski have opened TRYOGA preserving at least the original intention of respecting nature. This, one of L.A.’s first truly eco-friendly studios, is a complex featuring gardens, a reflective pool, retail store, massage series and pilates instruction, as well as Hatha yoga taught by India-trained yogi and studio designer Peter Sterios. The space employs recycled building materials such as eco-resin panels, stainless steel reception desk, aluminum retail displays, cellulose fiber ceilings, fiber floor carpet tiles and glass wall panels, Brazilian sustainable harvest hardwood floors, low Voc emissions paint and countertops made from pressed recycled newspaper pulp. Even the yoga props are eco-chic with Manduka eco-mats, cork blocks and organic cotton straps. The studio will officially open January 12 with a party and Lululemon trunk show. These yogis have already picked a worthwhile intentions for your practice, now you can pick your own. Classes: $10-$16 per class, TRYOGA, 2425 Colorado Blvd., (310) 829-2227
