MIA - the Louboutin Clichy pump
Only the bitchiest of divas could pull off the five inch Christian Louboutin Clichy pump. That's right, five inches of pure shoe fetishism, masquerading as high fashion. The white patent version of this shoe was not available to the public, and was reserved primarily for celebrities and VIPs. Katie Holmes wore a pair in an Esquire magazine shoot. Cameron Diaz wore a nude patent leather version, with a Swarovski crystal-encrusted heel, when she appeared on the Ellen de Generes show. Teri Hatcher wore a pair of Clichy pumps on the cover of Vanity Fair. Sienna Miller paired her ruby Clichy heels with Alexander McQueen for a premiere last year.But don't let Louboutin's celebrity hob-nobbing put you off. This shoe, however starstruck, is a modern classic. They are also very difficult to find. New? Near impossible. Second-hand? Sometimes.
I found a black pair on Ebay for $700, but they didn't have the coveted spiky stiletto heel. I also tried calling Christian Louboutin's office in New York to see if they could help. No-one picked up the phone, but I did enjoy the heavily French-accented answer message. Or should I say "messaaaaage".
