Fit for a McQueen
There are way too many chain outlets with a "Mc" in the name—but here's one we're actually happy to see open. Alexander McQueen is bringing his theatrical high fashion vision to L.A., with a new retail store set to open next month. The 3100sq ft store on Melrose Avenue, on the corner of Melrose Place, will be the third McQueen outlet in the U.S. It was designed by Will Russell of Pentagram architects, and was conceptualized by Alexander McQueen. Expect "organic ethereal shapes", stalactite forms floating above the floor, chips of mother-of pearl in the flooring and a 9ft metal sculpture of a man called ‘Angel of the Americas’ by British artist Robert Bryce Muir, half of which will ‘float’ through a glass skylight.Oh, and clothes. Lots of clothes. (The store will house his womenswear, menswear, accessories and eyewear collections over one floor.)
8379 Melrose Ave, West Hollywood, CA. 90069. Tel: 323.782.4983
