A pheasant's parting gift...

Ever wondered where the feathers on your feathered jewlery come from?
Moth Love, a Portland-based accessories line, offers full disclosure on the matter, paying tribute to the mighty phez for allowing us to take its plumage before it heads for the dinner plate. "After its nourishing lifeblood is given, body handed to mine," writes designer Gretchen Jones, who has quite a way with words. "Hand plucked feathers sustain my creative hand. This bird has nourished my body, now mind…now yours."
Hair combs are made using vegetable-tanned scraps of leather, and cost $30. Leather and feather 1" wide headbands are available in tan, white, dark brown, cognac and more.
