Line we love: Swash
Swash makes clothes that make me feel giddy. (Maybe it's because the name reminds me of the ocean.)The London-based fashion design partnership is run by Sarah Swash (best name ever) and Toshio Yamanaka, both of whom studied fashion design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. They started out selling their designs in Japan, before making a name for themselves in Europe (they won three prizes at the prestigious Hyères Festival International des Arts in May 2004, including the Grand Prix).
They've continued to create fashion that is innovative, gamine and tongue-in-cheek, like their Spring/Summer '08 collection which features a recurring ring motif set against feminine pastels—a far cry from the brash chainmail of Versace, don't you think?
