GO GREEN: Can We Bum a Sigg?

Sigg water bottles are an alternative to plastic

Bottled water has become part of the culinary landscape. Fine restaurants offer water lists, consumers argue the merits of Poland Spring over Evian (and vice versa) and you can’t chow at a fine eatery without first answering the question, "sparkling or flat?" Too bad that for every practically serving of water we consume there’s a plastic or glass bottle leftover. Thankfully Swiss company Sigg has developed fashion-forward reusable bottles in over 100 designs as an alternative for water bottle junkies. Although the bottles are metallic, the inner lining is non-toxic and thus doesn’t give off a metallic taste or take on the flavor of the beverage consumed (so you can switch from Jolt to Pomegranate juice and back to water). Also these days plastic is under scrutiny for possibly polluting the agua inside, while this metal is toxin-free, which may explain why Madonna, Demi Moore, Cindy Crawford and David Beckham have been rumored fans. And if you drink from Sigg bottles, you’ll have bodies like all of the above. Okay, that’s a lie. But it’s still a good idea. $17-$20, For locations: sigg.ch
