GO GREEN: Macro Biology

Blunda’s The Essence of Eating – Cornucopia classMost of us accept holiday weight gain and tummy aches as a given. We know that we’re bound to stuff our faces with all types of gooey chocolate, sugary wafers and mashed potatoes of any variety. Now consider this crazy concept: what if all your eating was not in vain? What if you actually carefully prepared the victuals you consumed, so that they had healing and nourishing benefits for your body? At The Essence of Eating Workshop - Cornucopia on Saturday from 2p.m. to 7p.m. at organic aromatic shop Blunda, Hatha and Tibetan yoga teacher, Shiatsu therapist and Therapeutic Food Educator Carry Kim and artist and store owner Persephenie will teach students how to create and heal with warming and raw foods inspired by Ayurveda, Macrobiotics, and raw dishes with hydrosols and essential oils. As a holiday bonus, guests will make herbal wreaths infused with essential oils as well. Then on Sunday from 10 p.m. to 4 p.m. learn how to make incense using herbs from Tibet, India and Africa and how to bind those raw materials with different herbs, wine and honey. Workshops are ongoing, so check the website regularly. $100 plus materials, Blunda, 304 S. Edinburgh Ave., RSVP: (323) 658-7507, blundalosangeles.com
