Popular Mechanics

Strategically faked incoming phone calls with Popularity DialerYour blind date is tall, dark and scrawny. At least he still has hair – on his back. Time to implement an exit strategy: Popularity Dialer. Created by NYU grad students, the service set-ups fake incoming phone calls to use as excuses for escape or to impress business clients and romantic prospects by appearing in high demand. Calls include the Original in which a guy demands, "Where you at?" In Popularity Call II a female sing-songs, "We’re going out tonight and it’s going to be awesooome!" The Affirmation Call would impress Stuart Smalley, "You are probably one of the greatest people alive today." Lastly a make-believe boss can bark, "Did you complete that thing yet?"
