Zac Posen's Berlin crush
Zac Posen has announced he will be one of the playaz at the second Berlin Fashion Week, taking place at the end of January. “Today Berlin is what New York was in the 80’s," said Posen, adding that he finds it "one of the most dynamic cities in Europe...full of creative energy and spirit. I’m delighted to show my collection in such an amazing and inspiring atmosphere”.
Indeed Berlin, which has experienced a major cultural renaissance since the fall of the Wall, provides an exciting new alternative to the glossy fashion week scenes of Paris, New York and Milan, affording young German and northern European designers a space to showcase their considerably underrated talents alongside the big names.
Berlin's first fashion week, held in July underneath the Brandenberg Gate, featured heavy-hitters like Vivienne Westwood's "Anglomania" line and Hugo Boss, plus emergent innovators like the extraordinary Sandra Backlund (whom I mentioned in this blog not so long ago.)
