For Eva (LA)
Only the good die young. That’s certainly true of promising (and notably beautiful) female artist Eva Hesse, who was already impacting the male-dominated 1960’s art world when she died of a brain tumor at 34-years- old. Known largely for her minimal, but organically inspired sculptures made from unusual materials like fiberglass, latex, rope, and wire, Hesse’s other legacy comes in the form of notebooks, journals, sketches, and drawings on paper, which will be displayed at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) from August 6 through October 23. Catalogue $50, moca.org
