In Costume
After a special announcement from Mike the Arclight usher, pushing through the crowds (and fake snow) at The Grove or hustling in from the cold to join nerd glasses clad crowds at the Angelika, we’re relieved to relax and let the movie wash over us. It’s from these larger than life images we draw our true adoration of movie stars—well, it’s certainly not from tabloid pictures of them walking the dog in Juicy Couture jumpsuits. So it’s no surprise that costume designer Arianne Phillips was asked to collaborate with beauty experts to create Stila’s new Spring Garden line. Having dressed Reese Witherspoon in Walk the Line and Angelina Jolie and Winona Ryder in Girl, Interrupted, Phillips knows a thing or two about making beautiful women look their best. Her new collection from Stila includes eyeshadow trios, shades kajal eyeliners, color duos and plumping lip glazes in dusty shades like sage, periwinkle and dusty rose. So we can all look movie star gorgeous, even if it’s from our seats. $14-$30 each, Sephora
