Ring my bell-bottom: Dittos jeans winner!

Many interesting things happened in the 1970s.

  • The X-rated Midnight Cowboy won Best Picture.
  • The Beatles broke up.
  • Earth Day was founded.
  • Apple Computers was born.

And Dittos jeans spread the bell-bottom creed across America

After decades in the doldrums, Dittos was recently relaunched under the creative guidance of Frankie B designer Daniella Clark, who has done an amazing job of making the classic brand appealing to modern consumers. We invited Stylephile readers to recount their favorite things about the 1970s in order to win a free pair of Dittos, and dozens of you entered (including many who had not even been conceived in the 1970s).
In the end, I picked this poetic entry by Michelle Romero, who eschewed all traditional notions of grammar and punctuation to recreate this supa fly scene, right out of 1976. Congratulations Michelle, your parents sound groovy!

Oh the 70's! Born in 1971 the vinyl records - Sitting in my room wood paneled with yellow/green carpet right next to my orange and white record player and playing Undercover Angel my first vinyl! Sitting in my favorite white denim shorts with a rainbow on the pockets and my favorite purple bandeau top. Wearing headbands and finding my love for make-up and blue eye shadow. Seeing my mom and dad getting ready for a night on the town my mom dressed in a white bell bottom jumpsuit and my father in a white suit. The greatest memory of the 70's.
