How to wear: A headband

By Monica Corcoran, - Thurs., Jul. 20, 2006

Hair, like unruly brats, sometimes needs a time out. And recent heat and humidity has caused manes to frizz and silken strands to sulk. Enter the headband, a device that can tame any coif. But with styles ranging from wide to skinny, which one to pick? "An oval-shaped face is best for thicker headbands," says stylist Frederic Fekkai, whose eponymous Beverly Hills salon sells chic bands by Jennifer Behr (jenniferbehr.com), including thinner ones for square faces. For headbands that match your hair color, check out Goody's Colour Collection line (goody.com). To avoid making your forehead the focal point of you face, Fekkai advises: "Don't push the headband too far back. The more modern way is to wear it closer to the hairline."
